Isaiah 40:1
Comfort, O comfort my people, says your God. 2 Speak kindly to Jerusalem,
and call out to her, that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity has been
removed: that she has received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins. 3
A voice is calling, clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness, make
smooth in the desert a highway for our God.
I. THE COMMAND
Isaiah 62:10
GO THROUGH, GO THROUGH THE GATES; clear the way for the people; build
up, build up the highway; remove the stones; lift up a standard over the
peoples. 11 Behold, the Lord has proclaimed to the end of the earth, Say to
the daughter of Zion, Lo, your salvation comes; Behold, his reward is with
him, and his recompense before him. 12 And they will call them, The holy
people, The redeemed of the Lord: and you will be called, Sought out, A city
not forsaken.
1) GO THROUGH: This connotes
action, not just sitting around
2) GO THROUGH THE GATES: Gates
represent an entrance or an exit
Perhaps the seat of power or
authority.
Psalms 24:7
Lift up your heads, O ye GATES; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting
doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
Psalms 100:4
Enter into his GATES with thanksgiving, and into his courts with
praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
3) CLEAR THE WAY <KJV: PREPARE
YE THE WAY>: Clear the path of rubble (Parable of the sower - Luke 8:5-15)
4) FOR THE PEOPLE: The Gospel
is for the people
Isaiah 61:1
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to
preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the
brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the
prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the
LORD.
5) BUILD UP THE HIGHWAY: Fill
in the pitfalls, smooth out the highway
Proverbs 16:17
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way
preserveth his soul.
6) REMOVE THE STONES: The
stumbling blocks
Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of
witnesses, LET US LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT, AND THE SIN WHICH DOTH SO
EASILY BESET US, and let us run with patience the race that is set
before us, 2 Looking unto Yeshua the author and finisher of our faith; who
for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame,
and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
7) LIFT UP A STANDARD:
a) A BANNER TO FOLLOW
John 12:32
<Yeshua said> And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men
unto me.
b) A STANDARD OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
Proverbs 14:34
Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Isaiah 62:10
Go through, go through the gates; clear the way for the people; build up,
build up the highway; remove the stones; lift up a standard over the
peoples. 11 Behold, the Lord has proclaimed to the end of the earth,
Say to the daughter of Zion, Lo, your salvation comes;
Behold, his reward is with him, and his reward is with him.
12 And they will call them, The holy people, The redeemed of
the Lord: and you will be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken
8) SAY: PROCLAIM
SPEAK FORTH
BE NOT SILENT
9) SAY TO THE DAUGHTER OF
ZION:
This is a specific
command to proclaim the Gospel to our Jewish people. Remember Yeshua Said
" I have come to the lost sheep of the house of Israel" (Matthew 15:24).
10) LO (BEHOLD), YOUR YESHUA
(SALVATION) COMES:
Salvation is coming to the
Jewish People in the person of Yeshua
2 Peter 3:2
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus
our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to
life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and
virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious
promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
11) HIS REWARD IS WITH HIM
Revelation 22:12
<Yeshua Said> Behold, I come quickly; and my REWARD is with me, to give
every man according to his work.
